Has anyone travelled the Routeburn Track in New Zealand?

I am planning a trip to New Zealand with my 12 and 14 year olds and want to find out about the Milford and Routeburn tracks - Are they OK for older children.

    No. But did you know New Zealand has only brown birds? No coloured ones!

    All this time later did you actually take your children on this walking holiday? It sounded to me (on a bus) that it would be suitable for teenagers up…but at your ages it would be a matter of maturity I’d think….
